Newsom Vineyards - We Grow For The Gold!

I guess I need to tell you a little about us. We are the Newsom Family composed of us (Neal & Janice) and my Mother's vineyards. We have been growing grapes since 1986. We are based in agriculture and make our living growing cotton, grapes, and peanuts as a living, not a hobby. Our well-being depends on our ability to live off the land, our first love though, is the grapes.

We started in 1986 with three acres of Cabernet Sauvingnon and now have grown to over 50 acres of Cab. S, Merlot, Orange Muscat, Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Pinot Grigio & Malbec along with a few experimental varities. Our vineyard is located in West Texas at an elevation of 3800 ft. with shallow sandy clay soils over a limestone base (caliche). Hot days with cool nights and usually low humidity make for an excellent growing season. All of the vineyard is irrigated with drip and is being converted to Partial Rootzone Drying irrigation when the older drip burns out.

We are currently growing for over 10 wineries'. Our grapes have always managed to make these wineries Reserve programs. Newsom Vineyards have won three international awards, (Chicago,Switzerland) and a Gold or Silver in most every international or regional event we have entered.
